of wines
Our
varietal wines
Sylvaner |
|
Pinot blanc -
Auxerrois |
A light dry fresh
wine which accompanies hors
d'oeuvres, apéritifs and
shellfish |
Well constructed
wines, aromatically subtle and
full of rounded tones. These are
wines which can do anything. They
are perfect accompaniments to
meals, for the first course,
anyway. |
Riesling |
Tokay - Pinot
gris |
The king of
Alsatian wines. An aristocratic,
fine, nervy wine, showing a whole
range of noble and refined
scents. Perfectly dry, it
accompanies meals to perfection,
above all, fish in a sauce or a
shellfish salad, as well as
choucroute garnie |
A very full wine,
yet with great finesse. Its chief
characteristic is an excellent
balance, and it goes with game,
white meat and foie gras |
Muscat |
Gewurztraminer |
A dry wine with a
pronounced fruit character, whose
roundness is balanced by its fine
nose. Accompanies asparagus and
Alsatian charcuterie. |
Powerful, aromatic
wine, whose roundness
counterbalances its fine bouquet.
It is best served during
receptions, with cheeses and
desserts. It is equally at home
accompanying Chinese, Vietnamese
and Mexican food. |
Pinot noir |
Crémant
d'Alsace |
Rosé or
red, always dry and fruity, it is
served with roasts, game and red
meats |
Vinified
brut from Pinot Noir grapes in
the "méthode
traditionnelle", it is a
distinguished wine with delicate
fruit, ideal for parties, as an
apéritif or at receptions. |
Our
single vineyard Wines
We offer three
wines from named areas all of
which are on hillsides. This
exposure to the sun allows us to
harvest more mature grapes, which
give more complex wines.
|
Riesling
Goldesch |
|
Riesling
Grasberg |
Grown on
a clayey chalk subsoil, Riesling
Goldesch is a very complex dry,
fruity wine with mineral notes.
The technique of maturation in
oaken tuns together with its
excellent structure gives it the
capacity to age and improve for
about ten years. |
Grasberg
has an oolitic limestone subsoil
and this gives a Riesling with
very ripe citrus flavours, full
of body and roundness. This is a
pleasing, refined wine, which
improves with being cellared
about seven years |
Gewurztraminer
Rotenberg |
|
Situated
on an iron bearing limestone marl
subsoil, Gewurztraminer Rotenberg
is redolent with the scents of
spices and tropical fruits. In
the mouth, it shows a dense
aromatic structure with great
finesse. It can be kept about ten
years. |

Our Grand Cru " Altenberg de
Bergheim " wines
This great vineyard is at the
centre of a field of geological
faults which have brought hard
Jurassic limestone and Liasian
marl to the surface. The slope
faces full south, and this,
together with the distance from
the Vosges and its steepness
gives a hot, mild microclimate
leading to perfect maturity of
the grapes.Marrying
a powerful mouth with a subtle,
fine nose, our wines from lAltenberg
de Bergheim astonish with their
power. The acidity is almost
hidden by the body and balanced
by the fresh fruit notes. After
laying down for several years,
Altenberg wines acquire the
mineral notes characteristic of
the terroir, which add to the
complex richness of these great
wines.
The Grand
Cru Riesling, all minerally
citrus fruits, shows a hint of
honey, the clue to the presence
of noble rot.
The
Grand Cru Gewurztraminer is
marked by the scents of very ripe
fruits, of cumin and roses. Is
this caraway or cumin? Despite
the presence of residual sugars,
the mouth is balanced, fresh and
aristocratic.
Our
Late Harvested and Individually
Selected Grape Wines
(
Vendanges Tardives and Sélection
de Grains Nobles )
True jewels of Alsatian
wine making, these wines come
from grapes harvested several
weeks after the official starting
date for harvesting. This means
therefore that we pick very sweet
grapes, which have been
concentrated by the action of the
Botritis Cinerea fungus, giving
the famous noble rot.
Late
vintaged wines are very rich,
keeping an extraordinary natural
sweetness. They are best tasted
with Salmon (Riesling), Foie
Gras, desserts or as an apéritif
(Gewurztraminer).
The
wines made from individually
selected grapes are only
attempted in exceptional years,
and are harvested grape by grape,
which gives them their title.
This rigorous selection makes
wines that can easily be laid
down for years. These are very
rich, opulent wines, perfect
companions for festive meals
